Georgia Amateur Golf Promotions Tournament Director John Ungar started his 38th year organizing, directing, conducting and promoting Amateur golf. The former Georgia State Golf Association Committeeman for Public Golf has directed amateur events in Georgia, Ohio and Carolinas and attended golf summits by Ohio PGA Sections and the USGA. At Port Armor CC( now Reynolds Landings) on Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Georgia he served as a golf event coordinator and was known for conducting well organized and first class events for corporate outings, charity, men, ladies, member and junior amateur events. HIGHLIGHTS 1973-1974 Sugar Bush-Pro-Shop Manager and Director of Leagues. Increased Monday night league participation from twelve teams (24 players) to twentyfour teams (48 players) 1980 1ST Tournament Sugar Bush Golf Course Garrettsville, Ohio 1990 -1993 Retail Sales with Golf USA 1995 Port Armor Country Club Greensboro, Georgia on Lake Oconne. Golf Event Coordinator/ Pro-Shop Assistant 1993 Committee Person with Georgia State Golf Association for Public Golf 2004 Attended Golf Summit in Dublin, Ohio Conducted by the Ohio PGA Tournament Director for the Golf Club of Ohio Tournament Director for Portage County Amateur Kent, Ohio (in existence since 1930) Tournament Director for Franklin County Amateur Columbus, Ohio Tournament Director for Valdosta Golf Association and MGA of a local golf club. January has been a very good month attracting new golfers locally and throughout the state so we decided to keep it going according to Director John Ungar . New members include golfers from publinks courses, semi-private and private clubs. Events are schedule Wednesday through Saturday.
